This Saturday, August 25, TI and other young Dallas area employees – ages 35 and younger - will join United Way and Rich Templeton, TI chairman, president and CEO and 2012 United Way Campaign Chair, to hand out free school supplies to local students and families as they prepare to head back to school.
ILona Sitnitsky, a product engineer at RFAB who co-chairs the New Employee Initiative United Way committee, said she takes part in events like Saturday’s as a way to better her community and herself.
"Volunteering with United Way makes me feel connected with my wonderful Dallas community,” Sitnitsky said. “I believe every person who is willing and enthusiastic about his or her community can positively impact the lives of others.”
Shicara Hollie, who works in Global Asset Management under the TI Financial Planning group, is another frequent volunteer for TI’s United Way team. “I admire the work that they do in our community, and I wanted to personally experience giving back to the organizations they support,” she said.
To her, community outreach is a critical part of being a responsible corporate citizen.
Saturday’s event will benefit United Way-funded literacy programs at Vickery Meadows Learning Center (VMLC), which provides free educational programs for approximately 1,000 adults and 200 preschool children who reside in Vickery Meadow and West Dallas.
