While the announcement is great and will usher in a new phase in development, it would have been nice if the they had peripheral role support. They are still behind iOS on this, but as you mentioned, things should move fast from here on.

With the CC2540, CC2564 and upcoming Cortex M3 BLE devices, there truly is no limit to this!

If you are using one of these platforms (MSP430/Stellaris: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../CC3000_Wi-Fi_Platforms); supported as example, then the SPI driver comes as part of the basic Wi-Fi app download (processors.wiki.ti.com/.../CC3000_Wi-Fi_Downloads).

If you are using a different MCU, then you can follow the directions mentioned in this porting guide. The SPI driver are host dependent: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../CC3000_Host_Driver_Porting_Guide

Additionally, below are a couple of links that will help you with CC3000. Let us know if you have any further questions.

The CC3000 software including the software for SPI for TI MCUs can be found here:

processors.wiki.ti.com/.../CC3000_Wi-Fi_Downloads

For porting SPI driver to a different MCU, please see instructions here:

Host driver programming guide is here:
