Last week I saw this brief from InStat looking at Microsoft's move to make more applications available via the web.  Cloud computing can really open up what you do with applications.  With applications being hosted on remote platforms, uses cases for devices become limitless.  Looking at emerging markets like MIDs, users will no longer be tied to a specific processor, operating system or software application.  It becomes more about browser plug-ins and not the application software if you can run it from the cloud with always-connected devices.
