Hello, my name is Jason Strimas and I am helping to deliver TI widgets that can make your job easier. A widget is an application or tool that you can add to your iGoogle, Yahoo , website, blog or even your desktop. Anyone can create widgets and there are many of them to choose from. You may be familiar with ones that display stock quotes or the weather.
We've created a number of widgets you can use to do common calculations, get the latest product news, look up part information, and find technical documents. Initially we started experimenting by building widgets you could download individually. Soon we realized it was better to create one main widget we're calling TI.com Tools that you can
use to display all the TI widgets you're interested in. Right now, TI.com Tools widget only contains our recently released audio calculators but we have more on the way.
The value of audio calculators
The audio calculator widget was designed to assist you with common audio design calculations and conversions, such as calculating SNR and converting dBV to RMS. Now you can finally retire your equation cheat sheet from college. Simply install the widget on your desktop, iGoogle, or Yahoo and use it to perform basic calculations and cut & paste the results into your spreadsheets, documents, powerpoints, etc.
If you want, you can share a calculation by selecting the "Share this calculation" link found under a result. This will display the html embed code which you can copy by selecting "Copy code to clipboard". Paste this code into your website or blog and it will display the audio calculator widget with your result shown. Below the calculators you can stay up to date with the latest TI product news through an RSS feed.
How do you get the TI.com Tools widget?
You can visit TI.com/widgets and then add the TI.com Tools widget to your iGoogle page or Yahoo desktop. Once you have the widget you can share it with anyone just by selecting "share this widget on your website" in the pull-down menu. Then copy the embed code the same way you do with audio calculators.
Next, we're going to offer you the ability to choose which widgets you want to appear in your default view. You'll even be able to choose which language you want. Keep an eye out for new widgets as they become available and let us know if you have an idea for a widget you want us to consider. We're always interested to find out what you need.
