Our 10 top moments from CES 2012

The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) flew by again this year!  After a busy week cruising around the Las Vegas Strip to keep you up to speed on our announcements and to show you all our new demos with industry-leading technologies, we have had a couple weeks to reflect on our experience and milestones from CES 2012. With speaker panels, new technologies, trends and more, it’s been really hard to narrow down the best moments from the show, but we gave it our best shot to bring you 10 top moments from CES:

• Our own Markus Tremmel, along with representatives from Hillcrest Labs, Intel, Perceptive Pixel and Microsoft Research, discussed “The Evolving User Interface”

• We won a 2012 CES Innovations Award for our TMP006—the world’s first contactless MEMS IR temperature sensor!

• Our OMAP 5 platform made its first on-camera debut on Engadget’s CES stage! Stay tuned for more OMAP 5 processor news in the weeks ahead.

• We met with the Embedded Vision Alliance and Junko Yoshida, editor-in-chief of EE Times, to discuss the future of embedded vision industry.

• We demonstrated our new automotive infotainment ecosystem, which enables feature-rich applications such as automotive infotainment head units, rear-seat entertainment devices, radio and navigation tools.

• Amy Louthan from our power management team noticed some discussions around wireless power interoperability being a “major factor of a solution’s success and adoption.”

• Our analog interface guru, Dan Harmon, thought it was interesting that this year’s “big thing” was actually not just one big thing at all, but rather a slew of new apps for devices!

• Media received a first look at an OMAP4470-based Windows 8 tablet in the wireless meeting space, offering “one of the most revealing demos of Windows 8 on ARM at CES.”

• TI Principal Fellow Gene Frantz was part of a panel that addressed the important role technology plays in medicine.

• The QNX Car 2 Platform (which includes our automotive-grade processors, connectivity and analog chips) won CNET’s Best of CES People’s Voice Award!
