Bob Paradiso created a smartphone controlled wheelchair (project page). He removed the control stage and replaced it with a SimpleLink™ Wi-Fi® CC3200 LaunchPad™ development kit. The CC3200 LaunchPad development kit is used as the access point. There's no active Wi-Fi network needed.
