File attachment filter does not allow various file types that it should

This question is not answered

Hi,

Would it be possible to allow more file type extensions for file attachments on the forums?

I’m currently getting an error when attaching filetypes such as *.xs as well as others (can’t remember exactly, but I think *.xdc, *.c and *.h even) to forum posts while helping customers.

Oddly enough, the file type *.zip – one of the most dangerous file type extensions – is accepted (!?).  This just doesn’t make any sense from a security standpoint…

So, I have to either rename or create a zip file (again, a known back door used to get Trojan horses in!) to encapsulate the file in.  This then must be accompanied by an explanation to the customer that they need to rename the zip file to be *.xs (or whatever the proper extension was).

Thanks,

Steve

.c and .h are already allowed, were checking on the others and will let you know when/if we can get them added

    Hi Foe,

On the same subject, seems like .c and .h are still not allowed (not valid).

    Any progress on that?

I had the same issue with .c and .h files not being allowed several times in the past.

I'm now on forum support again and am still hitting this issue ... could not attach a C file.

Is there any plan to allow .c files to be attached to the forums?

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Steven and Igor,

This should be working in allow .c and .h files to be attached. I'll contact you both offline to troubleshoot.

    Hi,

    This is a test:

Attaching .c and .h files with paper clip File Type Not Valid, This type of file is not allowed."

Also I tried to attach a hal_timer.c  using the “File attachment” selection under “Options”...

    Igor,

Thanks for testing. We are currently reviewing this for a solution for being able to attach using the paper clip option.

Thanks for confirming it is working for you using Options.
