LAUNCHXL-CC1310: Forum Feature Request: Forum should not notify me of my own posts

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-CC1310

Mods; Thread creation page won't let me choose an appropriate forum for TI website itself, please move this thread!

When I post a comment, the forum currently notifies me 1) when it enters my reply into the database "System created .... blah" and also notifies me that I replied to the thread.

I'd love to be able to turn those off, and only receive notifications when others respond to threads I'm participating in.

  • Hi, so I did a quick test turning off all activity settings in the E2E Community preferences, but the system still reports new threads created.
So I don't think it is possible to turn off 'create post' notifications....

    Best regards,
    FredG

Can you please verify all of your settings compared to these instructions: e2e.ti.com/.../150.06-e2e-content-subscriptions

I can't see any settings in there that even vaguely resemble "notify me of my own comments" or "notify me when the system has successfully entered my own post/comment into the database"

Instead, the options seem to make absolutely no differentiation between self/others and so I can either receive notifications for neither self nor others, or both - but apparently I can't receive notifications for others but not self.

    Hi Michael,

If you click on your avatar in E2E and then click on Settings, the third tab on the page returned is called Notifications. There you can refine your Notifications setting specific to content you are subscribed to, content you've created, etc. Note that the left hand checkbox controls notifications within E2E while the right hand check box controls Emailed notifications. Please verify that these are set to your requirements.

    Thanks
    Bill

Again, I cannot find the settings I want - that page seems to offer no differentiation between my own comments and others' comments on things I'm subscribed to. Furthermore, there's no setting that looks like it'll affect the "System created ..." notifications.

I want notifications for things others do on stuff I'm watching, but not my own actions!
  • In reply to Michael Moon:

    HI Michael,

The section called "Activity From Subscriptions" controls all of the Notifications for content to which you have subscribed. The section called "Activity related to content you write" controls notifications for any activity on content that you create. Therefore, if you uncheck ALL of the check boxes in the "Activity related to content you write" section, you will no longer receive notifications on any of your own activity. Let me know if this is not the case, as that is how it is supposed to work.

But I want notifications when *others* reply to my comments or my posts, I just want to turn off notifications for *my replies to their comments* and *my comments on others' posts*.

I can't find any option that turns off notifications for my own actions _while leaving notifications for others' actions on my comments or posts enabled_.

Every single section on that page is headed with "Notify me when someone..." and this is the problem - "someone" includes both myself and others, but I want different settings for myself and others.
  • In reply to Michael Moon:

Ah OK, I see. Unfortunately, that's not possible at this time.
