Known Browser Issues

  • Mastermind18505 points

The purpose of this thread is to capture all existing browser issues we are aware of. If you see anything missing please let us know.

Currently E2E supports up to Firefox 3 and Internet Explorer 8.

    Firefox

    • Missing Cursor (Versions 3 and up): Cursor is missing when using the editor. We are currently looking into a fix for this. In the interim when using the rich text editor if you use your mouse to click onto any other part of the page outside of the editor and then click back into the editor, the cursor will then appear.
    • Can't Log-in (Version 5 - Windows 7): This only applies to users using Firefox 5 for Windows 7. In the interim you can log-in instead of going through E2E, first going to MY TI to log-in and then coming back to E2E (might need to hit refresh). Some users were able to clear their browser cache and logging in through E2E worked.
    • Spell Check Quirks - Firefox 5 users are reporting inconsistent spell checking issues surrounding words that end with "th."

    Internet Explorer

    • Rendering/Rich Text Editor Issues (Version 9 and up): We are reviewing possible fixes to address these.

    Safari
    - E2E currently does not offer support for Safari browsers but ongoing will review becoming compatible with it.

    • Unable to use Rich Text Editor (iPad and misc.): If you click on the "HTML" button at the top of the rich text editor you can then post your new forum message in using basic HTML.

My home computers both have IE9.  One computer works great but on the other computer I cannot log in!  It appears you can work around the issue by first logging into my.ti and then going to the forum and clicking the Login link.  I tried clearing the cache and even clearing cookies but it still won't work on the one computer.  In any case, at least there's a workaround for now...

This needs to be fixed double ASAP.  I use firefox exclusively from home and answer forum post at all hours.  I get alerts via email and respond directly to them, no logging on to my.ti.com and browsing.  This is a major productivity issue for me.  I expect this to work seamlessly.  When can I expect this to be fixed?   No, more importantly, when can my customers and field support AFAs expect this to be fixed?  I am a firm believer in the forum concept, but I have to say the TI  E2E forum is possibly the worst implementation on the web.

    John,

I am with you on this, but in case it wasn't clear, there is a work-around that reduces this issue to merely irritating.  In your Firefox browser, go to my.ti.com and log in.  After you do this, you can now go to E2E pages and click the log in link and then you will be good to go.

  • Guru50245 points

Well, that seems to work.  I guess Ill just have to add this to my list (no decent spell check, hard to include files, etc).

    My 2 cents:

-Firefox 5 on laptop (Windows XP) at the office - works fine

-Firefox 5 on home PC (Windows 7-64) - cannot log into E2E (but can access external forums logged out)

-IE9-64 on home PC (Windows 7-64) - cannot log into E2E (but can access external forums logged out)

-Chrome 12 - works fine on both home and office.

    Thanks

    ki

This doesn't work for me. I've tried everything i could think of. I have to ditch Firefox at home.

The latest release of Firefox on OSX appears to have fixed this issue.  I am not having to log in to my.ti.com any longer.

Thanks for all the browser feedback from everyone to date. I've updated the list at the top accordingly.

For IE9 users are you still experiencing issues. We are currently working through this at the moment, so any feedback on any issues you are currently experiencing would be great.

Please post issue, URL impacted and which IE9 (32 or 64) and version of Windows running.

Word wrap is not working for quotes in a forum response.  I am using IE8.

My colleague cannot edit his forum posts, using IE9

I demonstrated to him how to edit a forum post by showing him on a WebEx how I can edit my own.  Then I watched him try to edit his forum posts over WebEx in the exact same way.  He had no success.  There are the posts he tried to edit:

    SMART Technology need

    DM365 Question urgent

After making changes in the text editor, he would click on the post button.  When the page refreshes, it does not show any changes.  Additionally, on the post where there is an attachment, it does not show up in the text editor window when that post is open for editing.

Firefox 3 is not a great option since the current release of Firefox is 8.0.  He needs IE9 for the encryption for his banking.  While this colleague is not a TI employee, I imagine our customers will experience the same problems, especially if it is their company mandate to use only IE9.

At home I've been using Firefox 7 and now Firefox 8.  I have not noticed any issues whatsoever, i.e. the cursor issue has gone away and the login issue seems to be non-existent as well.  I never use the spell check so I wasn't familiar with that other issue in the first place.

I just did a quick test from home using IE9.  I confirm the same issue as you reported with regard to editing a post.  I also see the login issue still when using IE9.

I just did a quick sanity check with Chrome 15.  I don't see any oddities there, i.e. no login issue and no problem editing a post.
