Only mention of the Shutdown pin in the data is "Puts the device in a low quiescent current mode when held high". If I don't need this function, which I don't believe I do, can the pin just be tied to ground? Is this pin needed to reduce the "start up pop" or not required if the R/C value rules are following in the application information.
Hi, Bruce,
Yes, you can tie it to ground. However, keep in mind that if you have pops in upstream stages, there will be no way to keep them from getting to the headphones if you don't use the shutdown pin.
BTW, I really love some of our newer HP amps - TPA6132A2 for example. It's awesome!!!

Thanks. I understand.
FYI, we attempted to use the TPA6132A2 but found it virtually impossible to hand solder the tiny package for prototyping. Open to your suggestions.
Bruce,
I can't find the exact model we have in our lab, but something similar to this makes quick work of re-work...
