TAS5715 stereo downmix

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5715

Hi,

I am using the TAS5715 in PBTL mode. I need to mix left and right channel for a mono output.

How I have to set the registers?

The datasheet is not enough clear.

Thank you,

  • Hi, Igor,

Please read the section in the data sheet on page 22 of the data sheet titled, "SINGLE-FILTER PBTL MODE"

  • Hello Igor,

Please see mixer registers needed 0x72, 0x73, 0x76 and 0x77 below.

    • To mix (L+R)/2 set at four register to 0x00 40 00 00, which is 0.5 (linear scale) in 3.23 format.
    • To mix L+R set at four register to 0x00 80 00 00, which is 1.0 (linear scale) in 3.23 format.

Let me know if this answers your question or you have any further questions/concerns.

  • Hello,

thank you all for the fast reply.

Ok, now it works. What confused me is the description of the 0x72 and 0x76 registers: "THIS NODE is RESERVED as ZERO". What does it means?

Now, all works fine but when there is no audio stream the amplifier is quite hot (about +17°C). Is that normal?

    Thank you.
