TAS5760M PWM Modulation Method

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5707

Hi,

Could you please tell us whether the PWM modulation method is the full digital pwm modulation or the analog pwm modulation with DAC regarding the digital to PWM conversion block?
In addition, could you please tell us TI products which have adopted the PWM modulation method similar to this device?

Best Regards,
Kato

  • Hi Kato,

All TAS modulators can configured to standard AD type Modulation. See HERE for more details.

  • Hello Kato,

Looking at the block diagram below (found on pg 31 of the datasheet) it appears the modulation is full digital PWM modulation. I'll have to double check with the systems engineer to confirm this. I'll let you know as soon as I hear back.

I'll also look into which devices share this modulation scheme.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions,

    Nate

  • Hi Nate-san,

    Thank you for your reply.
As you mentioned, although it seems that the digital to PWM conversion block is the full digital pwm modulation, I did not have conviction.
I am looking forward to hearing additional information from you.

    Best Regards,
    Kato

  • Hello Kato-san

I just heard back from the system's engineer, here's what he said:

    1. This should be considered an analog modulation with DAC (it is not exactly the same, but is very similar).

    2. This is definitely not direct I2S to PWM such as found in the TAS5707, '09, '11, '17, '21, etc.

    3. This new analog modulation is found in newer parts such as the TAS5760, TAS5766/8, along with future parts currently on the roadmap.

Please let me know if you would like any additional information,

    Nate

  • Hi Nate-san,

Thank you for explaining so politely.
I understood and will contact you if I obtain additional questions from our customer.

    Best Regards,
    Kato
