TAS5352A Power-up Sequence

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5352A, TAS5352

Hi

We would like to confirm the power-up sequence although there is mentioned on page 19 of TAS5352A data sheet as below.
"The TAS5352A does not require a power-up sequence."
Is there the possibility that an abnormal current and a reverse voltage occur when applying our power-up sequence in the following condition?
Is there the problem regarding the pull-up/down resistors which are connected speaker connectors when the GVDD is 0V?
In addition, could you please tell us method to set the output impedance of the amplifier to Hi-Z, except how to set the GVDD to 0V and how to use RESET_X if you have any ideas?

Best Regards,
Kato

  • Hi Kato-san,

TAS5352 does not require a power-up sequence. Although not specifically required, it is recommended to hold /RESET_X to a low state while powering up the device. What is the reason for the PU on output A and C and PD on output B and D? Does not this cause a DC current through the speakers?

When /RESET is active there is internal PD (3mA) at the outputs to provide bootstrap capacitor charge in BTL mode.

    reg,

    Paul.

  • Hi Paul-san,

    Thank you for your reply.
Probably, I believe that the reason with pull-up/down resistors is to fix each output potential when the output impedance of the amplifier is Hi-Z.
Our customer also understand that the current flows in the speaker.
By the way, is there the problem regarding the pull-up/down resistors which are connected speaker connectors while the power-up/down and the normal operation except the dc current which occurs by the pull-up/down resistors?
(e.g. : an abnormal current, a reverse voltage and etc.)
Could you please give me your advice although I believe that it is not problem?

    Best Regards,
    Kato
