how to calculate the TPA2038D1 input current

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA2038D1

I'd like to know how to calculate the PA(TPA2038D1) input current(peak and average) for a two 0.7w(8ohm) speaker application.

best wishes,

Jacky

  • Hi, Jacky,

That information is shown in Figure 6 of the TPA2038D1 data sheet.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

  • Hi Don Dapkus:

I suppose that the current in the figure 6 are the averaged current of input power.

and what is the peak current? how to calculate it?

For class D PA, the PA input current should be equal to speaker drain current, right?

Is there any document presenting on this topic?

    best wishes,

    Jacky

  • Hi, Jacky,

You are correct., this is average current. The peak current will depend on the source material.

In a class-D amp, the power supply current is not the same as the speaker load current.

I don't think we have a good document that explains all this. I suggest you contact your local TI Sales Office for more assistance.
