TPA2080D1 "Maximum Input Voltage" @ EN = 0

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA2010D1, TPA2080D1

Hi Sir

An specification, “Maximum Input Voltage = 2Vrms (Typ) @ EN = 0 ” listed in electrical characteristics.

Since EN = 0, device is inactive, and 2Vrms = 2.828Vpeak that is not beyond the absolute input maximum rating = VBAT + 0.3V (6+ 0.3 = 6.3V)

(1) What is the specification intended for?

(2) If stimulus = 2Vrms @ EN = 1, other than output saturation, is there any risk in application or damage?

As other product of audio amplifier such as TPA2010D1 has no clear definition to maximum input voltage, but found inside TPA2080D1, there must be a reason!

Greatly appreciate for your answer

Thanks

Regards

 Ben

  • Hi, Ben,

this is intended for cell phone applications where a receiver output is used to drive the inputs of the TPA2080D1. If the TPA2080D1 is disabled, this shows the inputs will not clip the signal being driver into the receiver.

    2) No, as long as you don't violate the ABS Max.
