TAS5754M Frequency Response

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5754M

Hi,

We have evaluated the frequency response to verify the low cut-off frequency with HybridFlow1 using TAS5754M evm.
As a result, it is about 30Hz, this frequency is the -3dB point for the gain of 1kHz.
Biquad and DRC are the all path mode, DBE, PBE and other is default settings, the output load is the pure resistance of 6ohm.
Then, is it possible to decrease the low cut-off frequency to 10Hz?
Could you please tell us that procedure if it is possible?

Best Regards,
Kato

  • Hi, Kato-san,

What configuration is the hardware being used in? Specifically, what input is being used? If using the analog input, this may be due to limitations of the hardware, please check it using SPDIF input.

  • Hi Don-san,

    Thank you for your reply.
We have verified the low cut-off frequency using the usb input.
As you said, if the analog input is used, there is a peak of the gain above 5kHz, the frequency response is not flatness.
If the SPDFI input is used, is it possible to decrease the low cut-off frequency to 10Hz?
In addition, could you please tell us why it is improved?

    Kato

  • Hi, Kato-san,

Both USB and SPDIF should provide the same results as they are both digital, and do not suffer from capacitor cut-off like the analog input.

We will have to investigate this further. It may be a few days until we can get you an answer.

  • Hi Don-san,

Thank you for your quick response.
I am looking forward to the good news.

  • Hello Kato-san,

Is HF1 the only HybridFlow that will meet your application needs? What is your application requirements?

HF1 has the PBE in the high level signal path of the DBE block. The PBE block has a high pass filter with a min cut-off frequency of 50Hz. We are looking into way to add a bypass of the PBE when it's not needed with the limit available processing space left.

If you limit your signal to the low level path of the DBE (set low limit threshold to max as well), you can bypass the PBE block, but you also give up the DBE feature functionality.

Check out HF4 for mono application it has PBE bypass.

  • Hi Damian-san,

    Thank you for your advice.
We will set the cut-off frequency to 50Hz and verify it since the PBE block has been set to default and that is 180Hz.
In addition, we will also verify it with HybridFlow4 and get back with you.

    Best Regards,
    Kato

  • Hi Damian-san,

The purpose of our customer was that he would like to confirm the pure characteristics of the speaker amplifier.
So, I introduced "Interpolation Mode1" of the newer TAS5754M gui, this issue have closed.
    Thank you for your support.

    Best Regards,
    Kato

  • Kato-san,

Sorry for the delayed response. I was traveling. Thanks for the confirmation.
