Headphone output voltage swing

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA2051D3

Hi,

1) What is the headphone amplifier output voltage swing range for TPA2051D3.

2 ) As per datasheet we can limit the peak voltage.

So what is the max negative and positive voltage swing. Can we control the offset to give only positive voltage output.

3) for register setting 000 peak voltage is 0.65V. Is it a voltage swing of -0.325V to 0.325V or is it 0V to 0.65V.

  • Hello Sateesh,

The headphone driver of the TPA2051D3 is direct path, which means ground centered.

    1. The peak output swing is giving in table 5 of the datasheet you referenced above.
    2. You can't control the offset/common mode of the output. It's always centered around ground. The headphone output offset is also optimized to prevent pop.
    3. Peak output of 0.65V means peak output swing is from +0.65V to -0.65V.
