TAS5754M - using stereo hybrid flow for mono mode

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5754M

Hello,

i am working on a system, that does not need the advanced audio features of the TAS5754M, but that requires more than 5 biquad filters.

Is it possible to use a stereo hybrid flow with an amplifier that is wired in mono mode ?

Is it possible to activate a mixer for "(L+R)/2" mixing ?

Regards,

Fabian

  • Hi Fabian,

Is TAS5654 the correct part number?

    reg,

    Paul.

  • Hi Fabian,

I'm assuming you're using TAS5754M. If you don't need the advance processing features for your mono application, you can still use HybridFlow 4 and have up to 10 BiQuads available to you.

    • In the DBE block use the 4 BQs in the low and high path and sett them the same, so you get the samce response regardless of signal path.
    • In the DRC block you can use the 2 BQs in the mid band EQ and block signals in the low and high band EQ by clicking the the "Coeffs" button then "Edit" then set all coefficients (B0, B1, B2, A1, A2) to 0.

These 6 BQs plus the 4 BQs you already have, now you have 10 BQs at your disposal.

  • Hello,

thank you for your answer. You assumed the right amplifier, i had mistyped it. (I have just corrected the title.)

The answer helps me a lot, but is there no other way, to make the configuration a bit more flexible ?

Is it possible to modify the biquads after "initial" loading via i2c ?

Can i get some more information on the special options that can be set via the pure path console, than described in the datasheet  ?

    Regards,

    Fabian
