TPA6120A2

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA6120A2

We currently use this device in a production product , and now have a new product in design stage. We have noticed that there is an updated datasheet. On the latest revision of the datasheet:

1) There is a reference to single supply operation, but no reference design or additional information to methods for single supply operation. Can anyone please provide additional information on single supply operation of the TPA6120A2.

2) In the datasheet there is an output resistor specified in the reference design which was 10 ohm in the previous datasheet revision and is now 39 ohm - please elaborate as to the reason for that change. Do I need to be concerned about our production product which has 10 ohm output resistors?

  • Hi Dennis,

1 - Let me get back to you after talking to some of our apps guys if there are any specific issues with single supply. The only concerns that come to mind is that this is a current feedback amplifier, rather than a traditional voltage feedback amplifier. This mostly impacts the feedback loop itself.

2 - 39 Ohms comes from a large amount of lab time to find the optimal resistor size for a balance of THD and SNR using ±5V rails into a 32ohm load.

    Best Regards
