TAS5756M Idle Output Noise

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5756M, PCM5242, TPA3118D2

The TAS5756M datasheet defines the idle channel noise as 56µVrms (A-Wth).
It is the value I can reach playing digital zero data or with the DAC muted

Tomasz

  • Hi, Tomasz,

That should be with the DAC muted. To get a lower noise floor, you need to put the device into shutdown to disable the outputs from switching. You can do this via the SPK_MUTE-z terminal.

  • Hi Don,

thanks for your replay. I thought so. Could you tell me what idle noise can I expect playing digital zero data with TAS5756M?
Designing amplifier for active speakers - near field monitors, noise floor is the critical parameter.

I use in my current design PCM5242 feeding TPA3118D2 and get the idle, noise playing digital zero data, at the level of 115 - 120 µVrms (unweighted). Referenced to the maximum output signal @ 0dBfs of 15Vrms I get around 102dB SNR.

Could I get better performance using TAS5756M?

    Tomasz
  • Hi, Tomasz,

Sorry for the delay. The performance on TAS5756M should be similar.
