TAS5711 3D surround issue...

Hi Peter,

The 3D effect can be implemented in the device by mixing both channel signals as any 3D application. I will try to replicate the issue in the device and look for the correct configuration for implementing 3D effect.

I'm the customer that Peter mentioned.

I am using 2.1ch mode, turn on 3D function. Then, I checked the setting of Mixer and that is exactly changed after connecting to TAS5711EVM, but there was no  audio came out. I tried 2.0 mode, same result.

My GUI screen as below, it seems different from the screen in USER GUIDE.

Hi Yi Ching,

I see in your screenshots that Master Volume is muted, is that so? or is it just in the screenshot?
The User Guide screen is for the TAS5709 GUI.

Hi Ivan,

They are just screenshots which I want to show that the structure is a little weird.
I also tried TAS570X GUI, it can turn on 3D but there is no option for 2.1ch mode.
I have no idea which software I should use.

Any way, you can duplicate my issue easily just download the TAS571X software from TAS5711 page, then you will see.

Sorry for the delay.
I'm doing some tests with the EVM and it seems that the problem is the GUI, it may have problems to configure properly the device for the 3D surround functionality.
I will take a look at this and be back to you when I found the right way to do this.

I was able to configure the mixers for 3D effect.

Follow the instructions below:

- Configure the amplifier out of shutdown mode and setup the master volume and mute with the GUI.

- Once it is operating execute the following script with the I2C Memory Tool:

!3D EFFECT

X53 00  00  00  00  00  80  00  00  00  60  00  00  00  A0  00  00

X54 00  00  00  00  00  80  00  00  00  60  00  00  0F  A0  00  00

X55 00  00  00  00  0F  40  00  00  00  40  00  00  

This will configure the mixers at the proper values for 3D effect. The script file will be attached.

Thanks for the solution. I will try it.

But, now I have another problem, I have no way to dump the I2C whole register to a file.
You can see that in my screenshot, there is no button called gererate .addr file.

There should be like this

It's really inconvenient, I have to give a whole table to my firmware engineer.
Can you help this?

I am very sorry for all the problems with the GUI.
Do you need an I2C script file or an I2C register description file?

If it's a script what you need you can go to: Target -> Write I2C Init File...
This will generate a script with your configuration.

Yes, that is exactly what I need.

Still another problem, when I turn on the function DRC2, the woofer will produce weird sound.
But TAS5721 doesn't have this problem.
I attached my setting as below.
