What makes cost difference between LM4809 and LM4810?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LM4809, LM4810

Hello,

As I understanding from datasheet, there is only one difference that Active-Low/Active-High Shutdown Mode between LM4809 and LM4810.

And I can see the price info from TI web as below. Is there something special on LM4809 which is $0.1 higher than LM4810?

LM4809MM/NOPB : $0.36
LM4809MMX/NOPB : $0.36

LM4810MM/NOPB : $0.26
LM4810MMX/NOPB : $0.26

Thanks,

Shaka

  • Hi Shaka,

The difference in shutdown mode active-low/active-high is very often preferred to be active-low because of the system integration. When a microcontroller sets the shutdown state of the amplifier you can avoid using pulldown resistor; when the system is first powered up the amplifier will be in shutdown mode (active-low) until the microcontroller set it to active mode. Active-low is often preferred in shutdown/enable pins because it's better to power up the amplifiers in shutdown mode.
