Is it possible to seperate the digital signal to low frequency and high frequency band inside TAS5766 before sending to the low-frequency speaker and high-frequency speaker?

Is it possible to seperate  the digital signal to low frequency and high frequency band inside TAS5766 before sending to the low-frequency speaker and high-frequency speaker?

  • HI,

With the current algorithm you would need two TAS5766M.

The first one one drive tweeter left and right. Then in the Equalizer page choose Linkwitz Riley 2 as your high pass filter at the crossover frequency.

The second TAS5766M would drive the woofer left and right. In equalizer, choose Linkwitz Riley 2 as your low pass filter at the crossover frequency. Note that you might need to invert the phase (in the Equalizer page or by inverting the polarity of the speaker cables). If you perform an SPL measurement you will see a dip in the on-axis response if the polarity is incorrect.

If the TAS5766M is in the same cabinet as the woofer and tweeter, then you would need a passive crossover (e.g. a simple capacitor in series with the tweeter may be enough). This is explained in the Smart Amp User Manual in ti.com/mysecuresoftware.

  • Thanks for your help.

we are using TAS5766 Smart Amp in 1.1 Bi-Amp mode (mono) in which one output drives the Subwoofer, while the other drives the mid-range ! We hope to set the crossover at around 400Hz-500Hz, but the woofer is not completely rolloff until ~2kHz. So we also need a LP for the woofer... Is it also can be done by the passive cross-over? The woofer and the fullband speaker is in the same cabinet.

We expect to be able to do digital cross-over, likely equalization  for both speakers, and take advantage of SmartAmp feature to boost up bass (TS modeling, excursion, ect)

Also want to confirm with you, if the DSP(like Smart Base, SmartEQ, SOA etc)  inside the TAS5766 applies to the left and right channel together if with only one TAS5766M?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi,

We are looking into integrating support for 1.1 in PurePath Console 3. Please get in touch with your local sales rep. We might have a temporary solution available while it is being implemented in PPC3.

  • Team-

I have a customer interested in 1.1 operation as well, but driving a mid-range and a tweeter with a single '5766.

Please let me know what the interim solution is, or otherwise send me your contact info internally so we can continue this development.

  • Team-

A response would be greatly appreciated; I have already elevated with Don D.- please contact me internally as soon as possible.

  • Hello

Any news on this? I have similar configuration and same problem

    Regards

  • They are working on this configuration, just not sure when the tool update will be released.

  • Hi Ti experts,

Is there any progress of this? when will this feature be released in the PPC3?

    Thx
