TPA3116D2 POP NOISE

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3116D2

Hi, Team,

Now my customer meets POP noise using TPA3116D2, when pulling SDZ high, and then un-mute. This POP noise could be decreased if setting 1 second delay from SDZ to un-MUTE, while even 800ms delay could still has issue.

Also, we have also tried another sequence, un-mute first, and then pull high SDZ, it still has  POP issue.

Could you help double check, what’s the actual timing requirement to avoid this POP noise ?

Also, in spec, as figure 25, what’s does it mean for 1.4 sec mentioned?

Thanks.

  • Hi, Rocson

         From designer's perspective,  TPA3116 should have no POP/CLICK difference with "1 second delay from SDZ to un-MUTE" and "800ms delay from SDZ to un-MUTE".

          Lab data also show no difference, shown as bellow:

  • Hi, Rocson

    •   The pop/click data (<10mV) which I showed to you is without A-weighting filter, with A-weighting filter, it should be lower.
    •   As we talked in the phone, the 1.4s is device's auto recover time (if the fault occurs, and customer connect the fault pin and SDZ pin together,  the device will delay 1.4s and shutdown full device ).  Note: pull mute pin to High only shutdown MOSFET (driver).
    • The recommend time sequence is  Power up-----> SDZ  low to High----->Mute to Unmute------>Paly audio.
    • If the pop/click<10mV, you can take it as the device's normal performance (also competitive data with competitors).

  • What is the recommended 'power-down' sequence?
    Thanks
  • The best power down sequence should be :
    'Unmute-to-mute----> SDZ High to Low----->Power down '
