TPA2013D1 Inductor selection help

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA2013D1

Hello all,

I am in need of help deciding what would be a good inductor to use for the TPA2013D1. I was going to use the recommended inductor (Sumida CDRH5D28NP-6R2NC), but it is to tall. I have a limit of 2mm, the Sumida is 2.8mm. I did find a couple inductors that look like they would fit the bill, but i'm not really sure if they would be good options.

Specs for what I have;

  • Li-ion battery - 3.6V
  • 4Ω speaker
  • only need 2W max output power.

Here are the 2 inductors I found that I thought they would be OK.

I am open to ideas for better options.

Thanks

Anthony

  • Hello Anthony

    You must take into account to change the inductor that its current saturation rating should be greater than the maximum operation peak current and choose an inductor with lowest possible DCR (series resistance) to further minimize efficiency losses. I think, your better option is a Sumida inductor because it has a lower DCR than Eaton inductor.

  • Figueroa,

    Thank you for the reply, and the advice. That is the one I was looking at the most.
