LM48512 AGC and ALC function

Hi team

what different beween AGC and ALC ?

From spec., AGC and ALC are similary the same, both of them limit to 90% of PVOUT, is that correct ?
ALC also has operation as AGC (Fig. 5), so what's the major difference ?
Another question is about the power consumption, how to calculate the power consumption of loading since it's AC signal.
Since we want to drive the speaker at 0.8W and 1W to do comparison, but the gain is fixed at 20dB, how to make it ?

  • Hello Kerr

Regarding AGC and ALC are the same, but the difference is that ALC is always activated once the Rtrip pin is connected to GND.
As this device has fixed gain of 20 dB you need to consider the input signal level in order to avoid clipping and get desired output power.
Please let me know if you have more questions.
