TPA3118 frequency response issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPA3118D2

Hi team,

My customer use TPA3118 us a power amplifier,They use PBTL mode,

1. when testing frequency response ,They find that from 7Khz signal begin to attenuate,Their SCH is attached for your reference, I have calculate the cut off frequency, it is 55.58K,which may not have impact to the output signal.

2. In PBTL mode, should we use 4 inductance or only 2?

  • Hi, Bing

This is a abnormal test result for TPA3118D2.

Has customer provide the input signal with AP directly to TPA3118D2's input?  I only find the circuit of the output filter.

Make sure the frequency response drop is not caused by the codec in their system.

  • More check points:
    1) what is their AP filter setting? make sure the AP filter bandwidth is enough.
    2) Make sure the output wave are not clipping. Because the AP filter will filter the >20kHz energy if the output wave with deep clipping, this will cause a lot of energy decease due to the AP filter.

When we test the frequency response, make sure the output sine wave is without any clipping.
