TAS5766M: Simple BTL initialization and register clarification request

Part Number: TAS5766M

Hi TI,

I have two questions regarding the TAS5766M:

1)  For testing and experimenting, what would be the most basic default gain, no DSP, bridge-tied-load, initialize and un-mute i2c command block?

2)  For our troubleshooting, does there exist a better definition of registers than is on the datasheet?

Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Aaron,

    1. Do you mean hardware gain which is controlled by the GAIN pin? I don't quite understand your question, could you elaborate on it?

    2. Could you please tell me what are the registers that confused you so I could explain to you?

    Thank you.

    Best regards,

  • Question 1..... No; I mean I want to be able to use the amp with all processing blocks bypassed.  I want it to be in simple DAC -> Amp mode for testing.  What I2C writes can achieve this?

Question 2..... Mostly I'm curious about Instructions on Pages 152-186.  However, the header file outputs from Pure-Path-Console result in our writing to all of the "reserved" registers on pages 0 and 1.

  • Hi Dedrick,

    Thanks for clarifying the questions.

Answer to Q1: Actually no I2C command is needed for using it as a DAC. However, if the audio input is a 3-wire I2S, some I2C command will be needed to set PLL properly.

Answer to Q2: Those instructions you mentioned are where the process flow is stored. It's generated automatically when you do the header file dump. I don't think you would need to change anything in it.

    Thank you.
