TPA3132D2: TPA3132D2 power consumption

Part Number: TPA3132D2

Hi Sirs

I have a question about TPA3132D2's power consumption

Since I will use PVCC=13V (RL=8ohms) and PVCC=9.5V (RL=4ohms) on two system.

May I know how many current at PVCC when I use  PVCC=13V and PVCC=9.5V?

Or May I use formula and calculate to get it?

Thank you for your great supporting.

  • Hello! Shawn will take a look at your question and get back to you on an answer. Thanks, Jeff
  • Hi Hugo,

The current at PVCC depends on the output power. There is a simple way to estimate the worst-case current at PVCC. The Figure7 in the datasheet shows the efficiency vs. output power with PVCC=19V. The efficiency is lower if PVCC is higher. So you can use this data to estimate the worst-case PVCC current because 13V and 9.5V are both less than 19V. Let's say you want to output 10W with PVCC=13V and Rl=8Ohm. In Figure7, we can find that the efficience is around 85%, so the total power consumption is around 11.76W, then the PVCC current is around 0.9A. This is not an accuratae calculation, just a way for rough estimation. Please also reserve some margin for power supply design.

    Best regards,

    Shawn Zheng
