Hello,

We are using TAS5751 to design intelligent robot. But we only have the datasheet of TAS5751.

Would you please share us the Linux drive or programming guide of TAS5751? Because there are so much registers needed to configure.

Hi Leo,

The TAS5751 device does not require a driver as it is configured using I2C. If you have access to the EVM software for this device you can consult the users guides that comes with it. Additionally, the software provides a GUI for configuring the device registers specific to your application. These registers can then be exported to a set of I2C commands required to configure the device. Please let me know if you need any pointers on this.

If you do not have access to the PPC3 software you will need to request and install this before you will be able to install the software.

hi, alex,
It makes me confuse that use TAS5751 does not need a driver. if no driver, how to configure the chip using I2c.
I need a linux driver, not windows

Hi Wei,

The EVM is an example of how the device is configured using I2C. Have you had a chance to take a look at it? Is uses software called PPC3 (I believe this only runs on windows and mac). The software talks to an intermediate chip (on the PPC motherboard EVM) which allows I2C commands to be sent over USB to the device.

Here are some existing e2e threads that may be helpful and provide more insight. The first also has some links to external sites with drivers (not supported officially by TI).

Dear Alex,

The default value of Device ID Register( Addr is 0x01) is 0x40 showed in the datasheet. But the value we read is 0x41.

there may be different firmware version for TAS5451?

tas5751 is work now, but it make me cry is that 48k work well, but 44.1k can not work, i2s singal is right,but no output

Is it possible to replace PPC motherboard EVM with the customer's board and still use the PPC3 software?
what's the way to debug the sound effect in the customer's product? thanks.

Hi Leo,

I don't think so. The PPC software sends I2C commands to multiple ICs on the motherboard and the audio amp. You would have to have a USB to I2C device on the customer's board to properly route the PPC commands to the audio amp. Even still I am not sure if the software will recognize the customer board. Also all other features of the software that use the ICs on the PPCMB would not function. A better bet would be to export the I2C config from the PPC software and load that on to the customer's board. That way you can still use the software to generate configs.

I didn't understand your second question. Could you please elaborate?

you mean we'd better export the I2C config from the PPC software using PPCMB and import the config into customer's product?
