TPA3110D2: TPA3110D2

Part Number: TPA3110D2

Hai ,

We are working on audio Amplifier TPA3110D2 attached is the circuit i am using but I am not able to find any out from speaker, can you please let me know if there should be any change in the circuit I am using

  • Hi Jyothi,

The picture is from TPA3110D2 datasheet, could you please show me your SCH? So that I can find if there is any problem in it.

    In addition, could you please check the voltage/waveform on the following pins? pin1(SD), pin2(FAULT), pin3(LINP), pin4(LINN), pin9(GVDD), pin11(RINN), pin12(RINP), pin18(OUTPR), pin20(OUTNR), pin23(OUTPR), pin25(OUTPL).

    Best regarads,

    Shawn Zheng

  • Hai Shawn,

    Thanks for the reply,

    Please find the attached schematic

    Regards

    Jyothi

  • Hi Jyothi,
From the SCH, you want to use the device in PBTL mode, right? Then you could refer to the SCH in Figure45 in the datasheet. To operate in PBTL (mono) mode, apply the input signal to the RIGHT input and place the speaker between the LEFT and RIGHT outputs. Please also refer to section 9.3.6 in datasheet. The output on OUTNR and OUTPR are in the same phase in PBTL mode, then there is no output on the speaker between them.

  • Hello Shawn,

    Thanks for the reply ,

I have changed the circuit as per Figure 4.2 and now its working but I Observed a lot of heat generating by the IC ,

Any considerations to be taken to avoid heat issue please confirm

And In addition to that I had build the circuit on general purpose board for testing initially along with the audio lot if disturbance is included in the audio this may be due to external wirings and etc Hope this should not be appeared when we mount on actual PCB,

    Please do update

    Thanks & Regards

    Jyothi

  • Hi Jyothi,
Audio amplifier is a power device, so it's expected that heat will be generated when outputing large power by it, more heat dissipation with more output power.
Actually the thermal performance is very important for the audio amplifier application design. Please refer to the section 12 in TPA3110D2 datasheet, we have very detailed explanation for the PCB layout guideline. Please follow it when design your PCB layout. There is another good example for TPA3110D2, please refer to our EVM design www.ti.com/.../slou263b.pdf.
    Best regards,
    Shawn Zheng
  • Hello Shawn,

    Thanks for the update,

Will design the PCB as per the design rules,

Will come back to you for any further assistance,

    Thanks & Regards

    Jyothi

  • Thank you Jyothi and Shawn!
