Hi. I am complete newbie regarding audio electronics, so sorry for my dumb questions.

We are using SOM which has TLV320AIC3106 on it. We want to use 1 speaker, but there is only headphone output on TLV320AIC3106.

I guess I must use an amplifier if I want to drive speaker from output which is meant for headphones

. I yet do not know how much power I want, but I will start with this TPA6211A1 .

I looked at SLOA105 but I could not figure out what Gain I need, because I do not know what will be the peak to peak voltage of input signal.

I guess I can see output voltage of TLV320AIC3106 at load 16 ohms?

So my questions:

What is the output peak to peak voltage of TLV320AIC3106 ?

Imput impedance of TPA6211A1 will affect the gain right?

I'm little bit confused. Can you please help?

Hello Karlis,

The output peak to peak voltage of TLV320AIC3106 is 2V. You can determinate it with the next formula: Vpp=(2*Vrms)/0.707
The Input impedance shouldn't affect the gain.
On the other hand, keep in mind that it is necessary to add an RC filter between the TLV320AIC3106 and the TPA6211A1 to avoid out of band noise, you can refer application report called Out-of-Ban Noise Measurement Issues for Audio Codecs.

Thank you for reply.

One last question regarding the RC filter that you suggested. Should it be connected like in image below?I am little bit confused regarding IN+ input. In datasheet there is only example for differential input, not single-ended.

It is just necessary to add an RC filter in the audio input (in this case IN-).
