Linux/TAS5756M: TAS5756M

Part Number: TAS5756M

Tool/software: Linux

Hello,

I have two TAS5756M connected in StereO BTL + External Mono Amplifier in order to obtain Stereo 2.1 (LR full range speakers and L+R subwoofer driver) >>

- Refer to the data sheet page 71, GPIO0 HF and GPIO1 HF, GPIO0 LF and GPIO1 LF, which setting is expected for each one?

- I want to load the HybridFlow 5 (HF5) into both TAS5756M, without development board, directly on device: which is the method? how I can load the cfg file?

Thank you in advanced for your support

Fabrizio

  • Hi Fabrizio,

TAS5756M is not an device that you can easily control by writing to some internal registers. That's the major reason why we released a PPC2 GUI for it. I would suggest you apply for a TAS5756MDCAEVM and then finish the tuning with it.

  • Hi Andy,

thank for your prompt reply, I understand. I'll buy the TAS5756MDCAEVM development board.

When I defined the configuration/fine tuning with TAS5756MDCAEVM and PCC2 GUI, how I can load the settings into TAS5756M embedded on my devices? sorry for my "dummy" questions, but I need to understand the whole process before start to invest a lot of time. The TAS5756M is connected to a host controller with debian (unix) operative system.

    Thank you

    Fabrizio

  • Hi Fabrizio,

It is not a dummy question at all!

After you finalize your tuning, you can dump a header file in the following window in PPC2. Download the header file via i2c when the Linux driver is loaded.

  • Hello Andy,

thank you, best support! Maybe I'm asking too much but I try :-)...could you send me a header file with the settings HybridFlow 5 (HF5) for the stereo 2.1 configuration? it is not important the fine tuning now, so I try to load and start to test my board developed using the 2.1 (Stereo BTL + External Mono Amplifier) Application Schematic. I sent a request to obtain the software PPC2 GUI and I don't received yet the approval, for this reason I would like to go forward with the testing.

When I download the configuration file, it is the same for both TAS5756M ?

    Thank you!

    Fabrizio
  • Hi Fabrizio,

Ok. I can send you a header file with all the default settings. Actually, if you just want to check whether the TAS5756M on your board can play audio or not, you just need to write to a very few registers. Is that what you are looking for?

    Andy
  • Hello Andy,

yes right, I need only to test the stereo 2.1 configuration because now I have one TAS5756M in stereo L and R for the full range speakers and one TAS5756M in mono for the subwoofer speaker; the first TAS5756M is connected to the second one as per standard schematics represented into data sheet, and now missing only to download the right configuration file in order to test the system. The subwoofer cross over frequency should be 300 Hz as per document slau577a and section HybridFlow 5 (HF5).

    Thank you!

    Fabrizio
  • Hi Fabrizio,

Basically TAS5756M is able to play audio right after it is powered on if a 4-wire I2S is provided. If your system cannot provide MCLK, some configurations are required to support the 3-wire I2S.

    Andy
  • Hello Andy,

thank you I have 4 wire, the audio is right, I just only need the configuration file in order to test in advanced the whole system before go into deep details with development board and user interface.

    Thank for your support
