TPA3116D2: Master and Slave Synchronization

Part Number: TPA3116D2
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5760M

Hi,

Could you please give me your advice about the following questions ?

Q1. PWM Switching Frequency
Should the pwm switching frequency(the configuration for AM2/1/0 pins) be same if using a couple of TPA3116D2 with the master and slave synchronization mode ?

Q2. Slave Synchronization Mode
Is it possible to use a couple of TAS5760M with the slave synchronization mode only without the master device ?
Please tell me the external clock frequency which can be applied to SYNC pin if possible.

Best regards,
Kato

  • Hi Kato-san,
The output PWM frequency depends on the setting of AM0~AM2. When the two devices are used in mater and slave mode, they share the same synchronization clock(around 100kHz). Please make sure the signal integity of the clock is good when you use the two devices in mater/slave mode.
About the question about TAS5760, I don't think TAS5760 supports this feature.

  • Hi Shawn-san,

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I understood Q1, but there was typo about Q2.
Please replace TAS5760M with TPA3116D2 as below.

    Q2. Slave Synchronization Mode
Is it possible to use a couple of TPA3116D2 with the slave synchronization mode only without the master device ?
Please tell me the external clock frequency which can be applied to SYNC pin if possible.

    Best regards,
    Kato

  • Hi Kato-sasn,
The SYNC clock is 100kHz squarewave. Theoretically an external clock can be used for the sync clock for both devices, but we don't recommend users to do that. Because the quality of the external clock is unknown and out of control.

  • Hi Shawn-san,

    Thank you for confirming.

    I understood.
