TAS5756M: Power Save Modes

Part Number: TAS5756M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS5766M, TAS5754M

Hello,

Our customer plans to use TAS5756M for AI speaker.

During no sound output situation, they want to move Power Save Modes to extend battery life.

TAS5766M is family device and there is description on datasheet as below.

Can we expect TAS5756M has same functionality?

Regards,

Mochizuki

8.4.7.7 Power Save Modes
The TAS576xM offers two power-save modes; standby and power-down.
When a clock error (SCLK, BCLK, and LRCLK) or clock halt is detected, the TAS576xM automatically enters
standby mode. The DAC and power amplifier are also powered down. The device can also be placed in standby
mode via software command.
When BCLK and LRCLK remain at a low level for more than 1 second, the TAS576xM automatically enters
power-down mode. Power-down mode disables the negative charge pump and bias/reference circuit, in addition
to those disabled in standby mode. The device can also be placed in power-down mode via I2C command.
When expected Audio clocks (SCLK, BCLK, LRCLK) are applied to the TAS576xM, the device starts its powerup
sequence automatically.

  • Hi Mochi-san,
We are looking into this and Alix wil get back to you later.
  • Hi Mochi,

Yes. TAS5756M and TAS5766M can achieve the same functionality regarding the power save modes.

See page 47 of TAS5756M datasheet for more details.

  • Hi Andy-san,

TAS5756M datasheet is saying that Power-Save mode is activated by Zero data detection at I2S data input pin.

The other hands,TAS5766M Power Save Modes is When BCLK and LRCLK remain at a low level for more than 1 second, the TAS576xM automatically enters power-down mode, It is not I2S data detection.

Can we expect TAS5756M has TAS5766M type Power Save Modes function?

    Regards,

    Mochizuki

  • Hi Mochizuki,

Yes. That description can be also applied to TAS5756M.

See Page 73 of TAS5754M datasheet. Note that TAS5756M ans TAS5754M share the same register map.

  • Hi Andy-san,
    Thank you for prompt reply.
Okay, Clock Missing Detection is in register setting section on TAS5754M data sheet.
However there isn't Power Save modes function at Feature Description section.
It is required the customer to spend extra time to know real functions, hopefully 3 family devices TAS5766/54/56 datasheet have same contents at Feature Description section.

    Regards,
    Mochizuki
