TAS2505: I am trying to simplify an existing audio design, and go to a digital amplifier. Need best part number...

Part Number: TAS2505

Hi All,

I have an existing design that uses an I2C DAC going through a 4 pole filter, a digital pot, to a TPA2005 amplifier.  It is complex, and uses a lot of board real estate.  I am looking at the TAS2505 and similar parts, and wonder if there is one that is simpler that would work for me.  My audio data is only 8bits/8Khz, and a full on I2S seems like overkill!  Any simpler one chip solutions out there?  I do want to improve my voice quality later, but would like to keep my present voice data for intial prototyping...
