Q: TPA1517 IOSM IORM
Hello
Please teach me about TPA1517.
Please teach the following meaning.
IoSM Non-repetitive peak output current and IoRM Repetitive peak output current?
IoSM are 4A TYP, IoRM are 2.5A TYP.
Why is it same value at Vcc=12V and Vcc=14.5V?
A: Re: TPA1517 IOSM IORM
Hello, Matsumoto-san,
IoSM and IoRM are just measurements of the current capability in the output stage. IoSM is how much peak current the amplifier will be able to provide in a single large transient. IoRM is the peak current that the amplifier can provide repeatedly, for example in a sine wave output.
It is NOT a measure of the output power in the stated conditions. For example, at 12V PVDD and 4 ohm load, the amplifier will not be able to provide 4A since (PVDD/2) /RL = 3A. But if a smaller load is present, such as 2 ohms, the amplifier will be able to provide up to 4 A for a single time or 2.5A if it is a periodic or repeated signal.
