Q: Re: TPA3106D1 / Customer has asked what the Output Impedance is during shutdown

Hello,

For the TPA3106D are the outputs high impedance in the shutdown and/or mute states? If so what would be the output voltage range over which the output impedance would remain high Z? I want to be able to detect if a speaker is present in preferably the shut down state by applying a small DC current through the speaker and measuring the voltage across it.

A: Re: TPA3106D1 / Customer has asked what the Output Impedance is during shutdown

  • Shutdown and Mute operation will put the outputs to Hi-Z state.
  • The voltage range for which the outputs remain Hi-Z will depend on PVcc.
  • There is a diode from the output to the supply (PVcc). So the outputs will remain Hi-Z as long as this diode is not forward biased.
