Current shunt monitor for SOLAR application

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA282

Hi,

For one of our products we need to measure if the SOLAR PANEL is charging the battery or not. We need to measure an input from 0 to 44v from solar panels serial connected (also the input voltage could be negative). Which would be the best IC to do this?

On the output we have an ADC that is powered to 3,4v.

Thanks

Best regards

Ivan M.

  • Hi Ivan,

Thank you for your question.  You did not specify how large the negative voltage of your system may operate, is it tas large as -44V???  You might start by having a look at the INA282 family of devices...it's input common mode voltage range is from -14V to 80V.  If the INA282 family does not seem like a correct fit, please provide us a few more details surounding the reasons you canot use the INA282 and we can find some alternate solution.
