LMP8602 max differential input voltage

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMP8602, LMP8603

Hi,

We want to use LMP8602 as a Shunt monitor over a active Shunt (MosFET). The supply of the LMP8602 is 5V.

We have a differential input voltage of 16V max. in fault condition. I didn't find any max ratings of the differential voltage in the datasheet.

The only thing I found is on page 14:

"The LMP8602/LMP8602Q/LMP8603/LMP8603Q use level shift resistors at the inputs. Because of these
resistors, the LMP8602/LMP8602Q/LMP8603/LMP8603Q can easily withstand very large differential input
voltages that may exist in fault conditions where some other less protected high-performance current sense
amplifiers might sustain permanent damage."

What does "large differential input voltage" means? Is there any max. rating specified I miss?

Thanks in advance!

Stefan

  • Stefan,

I don't see any max ratings that apply to the LMP8602/LMP8603 differential input voltage in the data sheet either. I've forwarded this question to the responsible engineer. Thank you for your patience in getting the response.
  • Hi Stefan,

Samples have been tested overnight with 60V between the inputs for verification purposes without damage, but this is not a datasheet specification.

Your 16V are way below this. Would your fault condition exist for an extended period time?

    Thanks,
    Sergio
