Surge torerance of INA225-Q1

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA225-Q1

Dear support team

Do you have any data of voltage surge tolerance of INA 225-Q1 IN+ and IN-?

For example, will INA225-Q1 endure when square pulse of -5V/100us apply to it?

(It is not necessary to guarantee it)

If it cannot endure,What kind of measures should I take using external components?

Regards

Tomohiro Nagasawa

  • A surge of voltage below (GND - 0.3V) exceeds the maximum ratings for the device so it will likely not work.  The problem is that it is very hard to protect with a level of just -0.3V.  We found some diode-connected FETs might work.  See this thread: for an example of how this problem was addressed by another customer.  It's a tough problem with no real good solution but this can help.  Will the surge current be a lot or just a little?  The breakdown voltage of the MOSFET can exceed -0.3V if you apply too much current to it.
