a question about LMP8645MKE/NOPB

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMP8645

Hello,

Can the LMP8645MKE/NOPB current sense amplifier be used for low-side current sensing?

Thanks,

  • Hi Sage,

Thanks for using E2E forums. Yes - the LMP8645 can be used for low side sensing because its common mode voltage can go below 0V.
  • Hi Mayrim,

Thanks for your response! Can you please show me an example of using LMP8645 measuring low-side current. Also, a typical application in the datasheet shows that the V+ signal is connected to VA of an ADC. Would there be an issue if different supply voltages are used for an ADC and V+?

    Thanks,
  • Hi Sage,

We have created a series of videos to train our customers. Please review Video 1, 2 and 3 to understand low-side and high side sensing configurations. Maybe you can share more information about your application so I can help you identifying the right application circuit and/or device.

You don't need to have them connected together but need to make sure that you don't violate any spec on your ADC taking in consideration LMP device output.

  • Hi Mayrim,

I am operating several solenoids with 24V PWMs and need to make a current measurement for each of them.  A low side constant current control pre-driver drives the solenoids.

    Thanks,
