INA213-Q1: INA213-Q1 Failure Mode

Hi All,

I think that there are various phenomena when it comes to failure mode, but is there any symptoms that the output voltage becomes a fixed value in that?

    this would be improbable but not impossible. Can you show us a schematic and describe the error?

    Thanks for considering Texas Instruments in your design.  Depending on which datasheet specification is exceeded, you may observe different failure behavior and the output voltage may vary.  One quick way to check if the part has failed, would be to see if the quiescent current and offset voltage are higher than expected.  Another more tedious check would be to see what kind of % error you are getting.  Fortunately there is a handy tool (figure 1 below) on the INA213-Q1 product page that can help you quickly see what amount of error you should be seeing for some given operating conditions.

    Since it is a review phase, there is no circuit yet. Therefore it does not mean that it failed.


    My customer consider whether the output may be fixed depending on how to break.
    Is there a possibility that the output voltage will break down at a fixed value regardless of the input voltage.

    the output going to a fixed voltage without going into saturation? Very improbable...

    Depending on how you break the device, it potentially could output at a fixed voltage between the supply and ground. However, this would most like exhibit some variation between devices. Additionally, it would be difficult for us to predict without knowing the specific absolute max rating violation the device will be subjected to. Lastly, we typically do not characterize the performance of a broken device.

    As stated above, if the part breaks we can only expect the device to have an output between the device ground and supply. However, we cannot predict what the exact output will be.
