I have a question about how the TLC2264 and the TLC2254 compare. I'm using the precision amp as a buffer amp to the input stage of a 12-bit ADC. I closely examined the datasheet for both devices, and for my particular application I am mostly concerned about the DC specifications.
With the exception of power, offset, and drift, is there anything else I should know about the TLC2264? I'm willing to deal with the larger DC specification, which is fine because the TLC2264 is much harder to purchase via my CM.
Again, my question is as follows:
The TLC2264 is very similar in design to the TLC2254 and is processed on the same TI LinCMOS semiconductor process. The primary difference between them is the TLC2264 operates with higher internal operating currents resulting in a wider bandwidth, faster slewing amplifier than the TLC2254. The settling time appears to be faster for the TLC2264 as well. If for some reason the wider bandwidth and faster slew rate would be undesirable in your application, then that might be the reason to not use it. The output impedance, noise, phase margin, etc, are quite similar between the two products and should result in similar system performance as far as those parameters are concerned. If you use an R-C circuit between the input amplifier and the ADC you may need to adjust their values for optimum performance. You are aware of the dc differences so there's no reason to discuss them.
