MPY634-How to handle with the part and not destroy it by placing on breadboard

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MPY634

Hello,

I am building my first breadbord circuit with MPY634 and already destroyed two of them, probably by placing it on the breadboard. My questions are following:

What rules should I follow to have a working MPY634 on my board?

How to correctly change pitch between two pin rows?

Schould  I manipultate with MPY634 using tweezers or simply with hands?

Can you give here some links about it too?

Thank you

Petr Duga

  • Petr,

Please ensure that you are inserting the part into your circuit correctly with respect to the pin 1 indicator on the package. In breadboard circuits, ICs are most commonly destroyed by power being applied to the wrong pin on the IC or other wiring errors. It would also be good engineering practice to use an ESD wrist strap when you are handling integrated circuits to avoid damaging them.

I can't recommend bending the leads of the ICs, and it should not be necessary for breadboard use. If you are using the DIP package the pin pitch will be 100 mils (2.54 mm) and should fit in a standard breadboard without modification.

  • Hello John.

I will buy some ESD wrist strap first.

With bad part orientation I have some experiences. Especialy caused by confusing TOP/BOTOM part view.

    Thank you.

    Best regards
