TLV2374 OP-Amp Voltage Follower Instability issue

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLV2374

Hi All

I implemented four voltage follwer with TLV2374.

The two voltage follower is Reference voltage for NTC thermister.

And the others is NTC Thermister voltage divider buffer.

I saw the instability of voltage followerr output. But, I can't duplicated it so far.

I have question about the TLV2374 internal compensation function.

I added 100nF Capacitive and 10K in-line resistor to predict the voltage follower oscillation.

Does the TLS2374 has internal compensation circuit?

also, The TLS2374 might have an instability condotion at voltage follwer???

Please let me know.

Thanks

Ethan

  • Hello Ethan,

The TLV2374 is internally compensated and should be stable in a unity-gain (+1 V/V) configuration providing any capacitive load applied to the output isn't very large (see data sheet figure 19, on page 11), and the circuit uses a good, clean layout. The product data sheet discusses capacitive loads and the use of RNULL to isolate the capacitive load from the amplifier output on data sheet page 14. It also provides circuit layout guidelines on page 16.

If you are applying a 10 k resistor as RNULL one that large in value should not be required to isolate an output load capacitance. Normally RNULL isn't more than a few tens, or hundreds, of ohms. It's value determined by the capacitance of the capacitive load. Keep in mind that adding a resistor in series with the amplifier output effectively increases the source impedance by that resistance. That may be an issue for the stage that follows the amplifier.
