Amplifier(TL072A & OPA277) Input offset voltage polarity description

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TL072A, OPA277

Hi  analog expert,

1.In TI application report(reportNo:SLOA059), in page 3, the description to input offset value(Vio) is as below :It can be either negative or positive in polarity;

2.In TL072A datasheet, page6, the parameter Vio: input offset value has the max value :7.5mV in full range.

3.So my question is : just a +7.5mV is listed in the table, What's the negative limit value for this parameter about the PART TL072AC? Or the 7.5mV means the input offset value is within +/-7.5mV ?]
 TL072A  max Vio 7.5mv  has been listed in table  try to illustrate positive polarity characteristic only ,??

according to some other amplifiers datasheet like OPA277,max value ±20mv has been listed in table for demonstrating the Bipolar polarity and the figure “OFFSET VOLTAGE PRODUCTION DISTRIBUTION” in page 6 has also descripted this spec, 2 ways for descripting VIO which have same explaining ??

  • VIO is the input voltage error and polarity designation is optional. The error is due to random mismatch so both polarities of the error will occur. A 7.5 mV maximum with no minimum means VIO will be in range of -7.5 mV to +7.5 mV. The maximum magnitude of the error is 7.5 mV
