Multi-Cal-PGA System question

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PGA309

hello,

TI,i have used  PGA309 on my PCB design. and  also used  PGA309  EVM,i buy  one   Multi-cal-PGA309 System .but  i  have some questions about  Multi-cal-PGA309 System.could  you help me?

1.  how to  connect  Multi-cal-PGA309 System  to  my  own   PCB   board  .,i use  four  wire  voltage  mode  .there is  PRG  port ,Vout   port,ONE  wire  port, and  GND  port. how  to  connect???

2.what it  is that  Multi-Cal-Power cable  connect?   what is  it  power  and  DMM?     it is need  special  requirements  about   power  ?

3.there is one device  HP34401  DMM?it is must be  kind of  agilent ?

  • Hello Yao,

    1. It is simple to connect your own PCB to the Multi-Cal system. On the interface board, you can wire your PCB to the connectors T0 through T7. For four-wire voltage mode, use these connections:
      1. Vout = output voltage of your PCB
      2. GND = ground potential of your PCB
      3. Neg = ground potential of your PCB
      4. Pos = +Vs (power supply) voltage of your PCB
      5. ONE = one-wire interface/programming pin on your PCB
    2. You are correct, the Multi-Cal power cable is used to connect the power supply and DMM to your PCB. One side of the cable has many different connectors which are labeled. It is very important that you connect these properly! For four-wire voltage mode, use these connections:
      1. 12V+ = connect to +12V power supply
      2. GND = connect to GND of power supply
      3. 12V- = connect to -12V power supply
      4. +Vdut = connect to +5.5V max power supply
      5. -Vdut = connect to GND of power supply
      6. Vm+ = connect to V+ input of DMM
      7. Vm- = connect to V- input of DMM
      8. Im+ = do not connect (current mode only)
      9. Im- = do not connect (current mode only)
    3. The 34401 is the standard lab DMM which we use, made by HP/Agilent. The Multi-Cal software communicates with the DMM over either a GPIB or RS-232 connection. Other DMMs which support GPIB or RS-232 interfaces should work as well.
