What is the function of those capacitor

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: OPA350

This is TI BOOSTXL_BUCKCONV high side current detection circuit, what is the function of the capacitor, please? The capacitor C10 - C14, do the phase compensation?Or other use, how to calculate

  • Hi,

This circuit was developed by another TI group within TI so I don't know the specifics regarding the components selections. Some of them are straightforward in their application and I can comment about them.

R8, R9 and C12 form a differential input filter that is commonly used in current-shunt circuits. C13 and C14 create a common-mode input filter in conjunction with R8 and R9 for filter common-mode noise. Both of these filters have a low-pass response and may be used to filter out unwanted higher frequency noise. C10 and C11 are a bit of a mystery because they bypass R8 and R9 and actually allow high frequency noise to pass further on into the circuit.

The OPA350 is unity gain stable and doesn't require phase compensation in many cases - even with a large capacitive load on the output.  Therefore, it doesn't appear that any of the capacitors are in place for amplifier phase compensation purposes.
