Digitally controlled low noise PGA

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: PGA280

Hello everybody. I'm looking for a digitally controlled, very low noise PGA for the amplification of DC and low frequency signals (e.g. up to 20KHz). The control through an SPI bus is preferable (but not necessary). Usually (and as far as I can see), the PGAs are amplifiers for high frequency signals (e.g. for I/F signals). It's hard to find such a PGA for the amplification of DC and low frequency signals. Moreover, my application is "noise sensitive" so I need a low noise PGA (as low as possible). Is there any chip like that from TI???

Thank you in advanced.

  • Hello George,

With the given specifications, I would recommend the PGA280. This device has SPI interface, is optimized for DC performance, and has feature such as low offset, low bias current, and low drift. The PGA280 also has a gain bandwidth product of 6MHz for gains greater than 4V/V.
